See printed version in PDF format. This is a contract recording the purchase of a house measuring 2 SAR (72 square meters or 775 square feet) and identified by the adjacent houses, public square and street. It belongs to Yasmah-Dagan and is sold to Puzurum for 1/3 mina and 4 shekels of silver (ca. 200 grams or almost 1/2 pound). Monetary and physical penalties are included in the clauses against eventual claimants, and indemnities are awarded to the owners of the adjacent properties and the presiding judge. The list of the witnesses to the transaction contains the names of twenty four individuals. The compensation of 1/2 shekel of silver (ca. 4.2 grams or 1/6 ounce) for the scribe, and the date by month and a year name of king Yadih-abu (ca. 1725) are recorded in the closing. The photograph shows the left side of the tablet bearing the impression of the seal of the seller and those of four witnesses. |
